We had our first game last night and we are happy with the overall outcome. The score meant nothing to us, we were focused on keeping our game simple and sticking with the basics of our systems and hockey in general. Most of all, we wanted to have fun and enjoy every minute out there. It felt great to share my first Olympic experience with my family, who were there cheering me on in the stands, along with friends and family all over the world who couldn't attend. What made it even more special is that it was my dads birthday! Quite the day!
I woke up around 8 this morning, before my alarm could go off and checked a few e-mails before heading off to breakfast. I usually eat a lot in the mornings, this morning I only had a bowl and a half of cheerio's, 2 hard boiled egg whites, 2 pieces of toast with peanut butter, orange juice and a bowl of mixed fruit. I felt pretty emotionally drained this morning, the past two days have been AMAZING! Having Opening ceremonies one evening, and then experiencing my first Olympic hockey game the next day was quite the thrill! I took the morning to get a massage, check some e-mails and watch my fellow Canadian Athletes compete on tv. Lunch rolled around pretty quickly so I made my way back to the dining hall quickly so I wouldn't miss Cindy Klassen, Clara Hughes and Kristina Groves skate. For lunch I ate chicken and beef stir fry with mixed vegetables and rice noodles, a spinach salad, a slice of cheese pizza, chocolate milk and a bowl of mixed fruit. I didn't leave out dessert, I have too big of a sweet tooth to turn down a warm brownie and french vanilla iced cream haha. I'll be having dinner with my parents later on this evening once they return from Cypress Mountain. A snack is in need, so I'll be saying bye for now!
I hope everyone is enjoying the games as much as I am!
